Hansi is a woman who, literally and figuratively, wears many hats. She is a mother, student, part-time teacher, model, award winning nail technician, volunteer fire fighter, activist, and, with her husband, James, founder of The Ronald Andrew Holloway Foundation.
Hansi well remembers the day her doctor told her that she had Poly-Cystic Ovarian Syndrome. The diagnosis allowed her to understand why, among other symptoms, she had a problem with weight gain. She determined to learn all she could about this often overlooked endocrine condition.
Believing that beauty contests should not be limited to the thin women of the world, Hansi decided to make a run for the Ms. Plus North Carolina title. She won that title in 2002, and in 2003 she became second runner up in the Miss Plus Size America contest that was held in Monroe, Louisiana. Her platform was teaching women about PCOS. In 2003, she attended the PCOS medical convention in Atlanta, where she joined health care professionals in educational sessions and spoke to doctors specializing in treating this condition.
Using the prestige and influence that comes with her Ms. Plus North Carolina title, Hansi began to campaign for the fashion industry to see the potential market in designing and producing colorful, fashionable clothes for the plus sized. She has modeled for numerous magazines and clothing manufacturers and was selected by Real Magazine as one of their models for their February, 2005 issue.
While living in North Carolina, Hansi was a member of the Valleytown Volunteer Fire Department and the Fletcher Volunteer Fire Department. She was the first woman in western NC to be certified to drive a fire truck.
Currently, Hansi lives in the Atlanta, GA area and is studying to be a paralegal. She juggles her class schedule with the increasing demands of presiding over The Ronald Andrew Holloway Foundation.
